Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to all my family and friends!

I am thankful for the fact that no one got hurt in the car accident I was involved in yesterday afternoon. No, it was not my fault. In fact, I prevented it from being as bad as it could have been.

I am also thankful for my family and my friends whom I will not be seeing today. And I am thankful for my husband, who I get to spend the whole day with!

I give you thanks for not giving up on my blog despite my occassional stupidity and infrequent posting! I hope your turkey day was more succulent than my turkey!

I never give up on a friend. Even one I've never met.

My Thanksgiving was wonderful as was my turkey because I am definitely OCD about making perfect turkey.

If your turkey was not so hot I hope that you at least had a good day!

Actually I was only being hard on myself. My brined turkey was as succulent as could be- I highly recommend the brining method. The larger 23 pounder which I injected cooked unevenly because the genetically engineered breasts these days are so disproportionate, but the breast meat was surprisingly moist even without brining. Like the brined turkey, it was pretty salty, though, as I added to much salt to the injection solution. Especially since my family is accustomed to soaking their slices in gravy.

Ever try brining?

I haven't tried brining although my family did that a year ago. I wasn't around to eat that particular turkey, however.

I applaud you for trying that. It really seems like too much work to me. This year I didn't actually make a whole turkey. Oh, and gravy is awesome. I'm always sad when I run out of gravy.
