The Window Into My Childhood

I returned from watching "The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe" a few minutes ago. Can I just say that it is one of the most spectacular movies ever? Because it really is. Every moment of the movie made me feel like the little child I once was; the one who wanted to find her own magic wardrobe and go through a door into a fantastical land. Naturally, I never did find that particular wardrobe. I did find another one with mothballs in it and a lot of old army uniforms. But that's really, well, not a story for another day because it would be a rather pointless story.

Honestly, I don't want to spoil this for anyone, so I'm not going to say too much. The cinematography was excellent. The acting was awesome. The lines were good and funny. The characterization made me very happy. And the whole thing was utterly predictable. Haha! Since I have read the book several times I am very glad it was predictable.

The other good news would be that the symbolism was not diminished. At least, I did not think it was. Someone else out there may differ.

Oh, it was a masterpiece and I am shivering with delight after watching Narnia. I mean, it brought back so many memories for me. Memories of searching for Narnia and looking for hobbit holes. Little kids have such imaginations. Add in the powerful Christian symbolism and it had me crying through a large portion of the movie. So enjoyable!

Warning: if you're an annoying cynic, you probably won't like this movie. But go see it anyway, it may grow on you.

It was great. I wonder how many times a person would have to watch the film to catch all the Christian references.

On a total little boy note, the battle was very well done. It got me in way that most other films fail to do.

Yes go see it everyone.

I went to the midnight showing and I LOVED the movie!!! I am so excited they have the rights to all the Narnia books and hope that they make SO MUCH money they start on a few of them RIGHT AWAY My Narnia experience was an adventure in and of itself. I got a call from Jeremiah "Lex, it's pretty hairy out here, so make sure you leave enough time to get to the theatre." and I was all "What are you talking about? *go to look out window* ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh." So I take a nap and wake up early, brush 4 inches of snow off my car and very slowly trek to the theatre over un-ploughed roads. After the movie, I and all my other fellow movie-goers rush outside, brush ANOTHER 4 inches of snow off of our cars and then drive home on still un-ploughed roads. In my little golf cart, I found hills I didn't even realize were there as my car barely got up them...at least it was 3am, so there weren't tons of crazy Michigan drivers out as well...

I'm going to see it this week. Was too busy to get out and see it over the weekend. I'm glad to hear your report on the film. I'd honestly like to see a top-shelf production of Lewis' Space-Trilogy. How geeky is that?

I totally loved it, and I was in tears for most of it. Not bawling, just a steady stream. I was so worried that it was either going to be watered down to the point of meaninglessness or tragically overblown, but it was so sincere and magical, in the best sense, that I was completely swept away.
