Going back to school is hard work. I spend a lot of time studying although I am only taking two classes. That is partly because I want to get a good grade and partly because Precalculas is higher math and requires many hours of study to grasp. It would help if my algebra were not so rusty. Sometimes I will be doing a math problem and I will get to a point where I realize that I do not know what to do next. Not because I'm dumb, but because I forgot the next algebraic rule that I needed to remember to keep going. It is times like those that I am thankful for partial credit.
Other things that take up my time are work. I am working at a flower shop. You would not believe the amount of work that goes into getting people their pretty flowers. Those arrangements are worth the high prices, let me tell you. However, I do not intend to speak much of work because I am always cautious about that sort of thing. Suffice it to say I enjoy my job and no, I do not design flower arrangements.
Today I am supposed to do laundry. Actually, yesterday I was supposed to do laundry. Actually, actually, I was supposed to do laundry at the end of last week. Having a washer and dryer in my own home helps, but having to study for multiple tests and keep up with other house cleaning does not help.
I recently wrote the first draft of a short story. Do not ask me how I had time for that. I intend to revise it and get some second opinions. Then maybe I will send the story out to a magazine or something to see about publishing. A little supplemental income would be nice.
I have come up with dozens of rants to write. Taking an Intro to Psychology course with a whole lot of regular people gives me so much material. I simply have little time to write my rants. But as I am sure you are all anxious to hear them I will try to get some written. Also, my holiday monkey Neville seems to have gone missing. That's why I have not announced the Neville Chamberlain award for 2008. I have sent a sleuth known as Detective Scorch (he's a Ty Beanie Baby dragon and charges very high prices for his PI skills) in search of Neville and hope to post the award before the year is half over.
In other news the weather was getting nice and it turned nasty again. I wish spring would stop teasing us Iowans.

It's Never Easy
I have been working hard on my two classes worth of homework, my new job, and keeping my house in some semblence of order for the past month. Hence, I have not had much time to write. Do not worry, I am around and well. I will try to make updates as often as possible given my schedule. You will have to be patient with me. That is, if I have readers still. Comment if you're still here (seriously).

Call Me Remiss
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year's to all my friends and family. I promise I will get those cards sent out soon.
I have never been late to send out Christmas cards before and I hope never to be late again. This year has been interesting, long and somewhat difficult. I've spent a lot of time thinking and not much time writing. But do not worry. I will get back to regular blogging. Really, I will.

Changes Effective
Frequenters of my blog may note a couple changes in my sidebar. First, I have switched my Ron Paul logo to an actual Ron Paul promotional thing and linked it to his official election '08 site. Second, I removed the Pence '08 link and very cool looking icon. I believe I have paid enough homage to the idea of Mike Pence running for president. He is not going to, that's sad, but I am making the best of things by throwing my support behind an even more fiscally conservative gentleman. Lastly, I replaced Pence's spot with my NaNoWriMo participant icon. It is linked to the NaNo site. I used to have this particular icon and link down at the bottom of my list of links. I decided that it deserves a higher spot on the list, so there you go.

Internet Exploder Version 6.66
I am aware that the current version of Internet Explorer (aka the Version of the Beast) is displaying my blog improperly. I am attempting to fix this. In the meantime, try Firefox.

New Blog Title
I have changed my blog title. This time for real. I mean it. Now, first off, this title has nothing to do with race whatsoever. So get that out of your head. However, if you can figure out what movie I quoted in the title then you are allowed to criticize me for my entertainment choices.
I chose the new title because it reflects the slightly more humorous bent my blog has taken in recent months. I have also decided to bend my writing talents toward more cultural type ruminating. I will still talk politics, but in a more cultural sense. I want to address other things, such as religion and the effects that various religious movements are having or what they mean. I think this title will both keep me honest, and keep me remembering to be funny once in a while.
This change is for good. I'm not going to switch back to the old title. It was a good title when I needed it. I had a bad habit of hiding behind a facade. I will never completely shake that habit, but I think I understand how to defeat it now. I do not need a title to make me remember that anymore. So, welcome to the new title!

Home Again
My move is nearly complete. That is to say, I have many boxes to unpack. It will take a while. I really just wanted to write to let you all know that I am here and everything went well. I will probably come up with something interesting to say at another time. Right now I am more practical than thoughtful. I have to help Craig fill out paperwork, I have to unpack boxes. I have to think about dinner for tomorrow and the rest of this week. I have to clean. I have to show my brother who is staying with us for the week a good time. I have to find my clean clothes. I have to organize my stuff. I have to find a part time job. I have to . . . Yeah, there are a lot of "have tos." That's life. Sometimes life is more important than writing. Sometimes writing is life. Right now the former is true. When I get the necessary things out of the way and under control I will be able to take up writing more in earnest. See you then!

A Comment Update
It seems that I can comment on non-beta blogs. However, I must be already signed in to do that. Hence, I have lost several comments on several people's blogs. Stupid blogger. They are infuriating.

I cannot comment on non-Beta blogs. If you want my comments you will have to switch to Beta or just wait for stupid Blogger to change it so that I can do that. For right now, it's not possible. Blogger is ridiculous. I hate them.
