Stupid, Just Stupid

People are nuts. That story should be one of those here and gone things where you kind of notice it, shrug and then forget it. The one about Cheney swearing at a Senator is almost more newsworthy than this one. If this story does get noticed it should be because Cheney had done an exemplary job making up for his mistake. Instead people are acting like Cheny shot his hunting buddy on purpose or something. I mean, come on, if I was gonna shoot my hunting buddy on purpose I'd sure as hell use something other than a shotgun with birdshot in it at long range! The national media is all upset now because Cheney did not immediately get on his cell phone to let them know he'd accidentally shot his buddy. He actually rushed over to make sure his friend was okay and then got him to a hospital. Man, Cheney's got messed up priorities. He made certain that good health care was provided for the man who he hurt by accident instead of talking to every damn newspaper in the country.

If I wasn't jaded before . . .

Yes, you'd think that Cheney was trying to outdo VP Aaron Burr and challenged the man to a duel.

It was obvious that most of the reporters in the White House press corp had never been hunting (or maybe even ever fired a weapon) by the questions they were asking.

Bottom line to them: Dick Cheney is a cruel, ruthless man who shoots people for fun...oh and plus he's the devil in his spare time.

Outrage! This is an outrage! Why, Dick Cheney of all people should wear a wire for the Associated Press at all times. Especially on a private trip with friends! And by golly, you KNOW it was a cover-up. Attempted murder, poorly covered-up... next thing you know, they'll be screaming "WMD" about that ranch!!

...Whoa, sorry, my inner Crazed Liberal just flared up...

I think they make an ointment for that Inner-Crazed Liberal flare up.

LC: Happy Valentines Day! I did not write a holiday appropriate post. I only recognize major holidays if you have not noticed. I do appreciate Valentines Day though, just not enough to post on it.

LOL: to Foolio (Craig) and Tracy!

You are so right. The press cares a lot less how the guy who got shot is doing than they do that their fragile egos were bruised because he waited TWO DAYS to tell them about the incident. *GASP* and then he had the AUDACITY not to tell them, but to tell a local Texas newspaper. Sheesh. As if a hunting accident really has anything to do with the American public, other than as a sidenote maybe. It's not a public policy matter, it's a personal incident. And he didn't not tell them and try to cover up, he just broke their rules of immediately going and calling them and giving them the scoop. Plus, I'm willing to bet that Dick Cheney's gun has killed injured or killed fewer people than Ted Kennedy's car. But we don't hear nearly as much about those incidents...gotta love the "objective" media.
